CHILD CARE TRAINING REQUIREMENT FORM
As part of my employment with ECJD, I will be required to complete the following:
1. Mandatory:
40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care Training comprised of Part I and Part II courses
Introductory Child Care Training
Child care personnel must begin training by commencing coursework, obtaining an education exemption or by completing a competency exam within the first 90 days of employment in the child care industry. All training must be completed one (1) year after the date on which training began. The Introductory Child Care Training is divided into two parts:
Part I
All child care personnel are required to complete the following 30-clock
- Child Care Facility Rules and Regulation (6 hours)
- Health, Safety, and Nutrition (8 hours
- Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (4 hours)
- Child Growth and Development (6 hours)
- Behavioral Observation and Screening (6 hours)
Part II
All child care personnel are required to complete 10-clock-hours of training from the following courses:
- Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practice (5 hours)
- Infant and Toddler Appropriate Practice (5 hours)*^
- Preschool Appropriate Practice (5 hours)
- School-Age Appropriate Practice (5 hours)
- Special Needs Appropriate Practices (10 hours)
- Early Literacy for Children Age Birth to Three (5 hours – online)
- Basic Guidance and Discipline (5 hours – online)
- Early Childhood Computer Learning Centers (5 hours – online), or
- Emergent Literacy for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Instructors (5 hours – online)
2. 5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, within 1 year of employment
3. 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training completed between July 1 and June 30 each year
